Mike Kras of the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team has won round five of the European MX2 Series in Hyvinkaa, Finland. Mike managed to take a good start in the final on Sunday morning and came out of the first corner inside of the top five. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up into second position and started to put the pressure on the leader. When the leader made a crash, Mike took over the lead and had a gap of eight seconds on the second place rider. Mike stayed concentrated in the rest of the race and crossed the finish line in first position.

After his seventh position in Latvia, Mike knew that it could be better when his starts are better. He was very motivated before the weekend started. The track in Hyvinkaa is a little bit sandy and this was a small advantage for the Dutch riders. Mike was feeling himself at home on the track and also his speed was good in the time practice session. Mike set the second fastest time and was happy with it. In the qualifying heat he was fighting for the win. He changed places several times but finally finished the race in third position.

In the final on Sunday morning he took a good start and came out of the first corner inside of the top five. In the beginning of the race he managed to pass several riders and worked himself up into second position. In the following laps he started to close down the gap to the leader. Just after the middle of the race he found the rear wheel of the leader and started to put the pressure on him. With still a few laps to go the leader crashed and Mike took over the lead. At that moment he had a gap of eight seconds on the second place rider. Mike gave everything he had in the rest of the race and managed to win the race.

Mike Kras:’’I am really happy with this win. A few weeks ago I was still riding on a Suzuki RM-Z 450 but we decided to ride the rest of the MX2 European Championship Series. I had to get used to the class because in the beginning of the race everybody is riding really aggressive. In Sweden it wasn’t enough, in Latvia it wasn’t enough and now we have won here in Finland. My hand is full of blisters but I kept pushing and managed to win the race. The Suzuki was running perfect and I would like to thank the team for their support’’.

After five rounds Mike sits in eight position in the championship. The next European Championship race is in three weeks time in Loket, the Czech Republic.
