Mike started the day positively and was motivated to do well. He found his rhythm straight away in practice but got a little bit of arm pump. Despite this he managed to set his fastest lap time in his tenth lap and ended the session in fourth position.
In the first moto he took a good start and started the race in the leading group. Mike was able to follow the high pace of the leaders in the beginning of the race. He was riding in third position for a long time. In the middle of the race he dropped back to fourth position but when Evgeny Bobryshev crashed, Mike moved up to third position again. In the second part of the race it was Bobryshev who came back strong. Mike tried to keep Bobryshev behind him but finally lost the position and dropped back to fourth position in which he finished. Straight after the finish he heard that he got a penalty of a minute because his bike made to much noise during the race. Mike lost three spots with this and was classified in fourth position.
Mike was motivated to score a better result in the second moto. Again he took a good start and came out of the first corner in fourth position. He was riding close behind the leading trio. In the middle of the race he lost them out of his sights but kept a good pace going and had a nice gap over himself and the fifth place rider. Mike took no unnecessary risks anymore and finished the race in fourth position.
Overall he finished in fifth position and despite the fact that he missed the first two rounds he finished in sixth position in the championship.
