Mike Kras on the podium in the EMX2 round in Lierop

Mike Kras of the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team finished on the podium in the final round of the European MX2 Series in Lierop, the Netherlands. In the final he was leading in the beginning of the race. In the middle of the race he got passed by Valentin Guillod but Mike kept fighting and started to put the pressure on Guillod in the closing stages of the race. He tried everything he could but with still a lap to go he had to throw away his goggles and had to be satisfied with second position.
Mike was well prepared for this race and was ready to go in Lierop. He started the weekend positively on Saturday by setting the third fastest time in time practice. In the qualifying heat he took a good start and came out of the first lap in second position. Mike was following championship leader Valentin Guillod but wasn’t able to make the difference and finished the race in a strong second position.
On Sunday morning the track was completely changed due to all the overnight rain. Mike was concentrated before the start and knew that it was important to take a good start. When the gate dropped he was in the leading group of riders when he went into the first corner. He started to put the pressure on the riders in front of him right away and moved up into the lead during the first lap. Mike was riding a strong race and held on to the lead till the midway point. Then he got passed by Valentin Guillod. Mike kept fighting and in the closing stages of the race he started to put the pressure on Guillod again. Unfortunately he had to throw away his goggles and got problems with his vision. Mike had to lower the pace and settled for second position.
Mike finished in fifth position in the final standings of the championship. His next race is the final round of the Dutch Open Championship Series in Lichtenvoorde in two weeks time.
