Mike Kras on the podium in UEM MX2 round in Lierop

Mike Kras of the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team has finished on the podium at the European Championship round in Lierop, The Netherlands last weekend. The rider from Fijnaart was riding a strong first moto and managed to take over second position in the closing stages of the race. In the second moto he was riding in second position again but in the second part of the race he got a mechanical problem and had to lower the pace. In the final lap he got passed by two riders and finally finished the race in fourth position. With these results he finished third overall. Micha Boy de Waal had the wild card in Lierop and participated in the Grand Prix MX2. Micha Boy came close of scoring points but finally he had to be satisfied with the 22nd and 23rd position in the motos.

After a good preparation Mike was ready to race in Lierop. On Saturday he managed to win his qualifying heat and started with a lot of self confidence in the first moto. Mike took a good start and came out of the first lap in fourth position. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up to third position and started to close the gap on the second place rider. In the closing stages of the race he found the rear wheel of the second place rider. Mike was looking for a place to make a pass stick. With still two laps to go he made a passed him and managed to finish the race in second position.

In the second moto he started the race in fifth position. It didn’t took long before he had worked himself up to second position. In the following laps he started to close down the gap on Mel Pocock. Unfortunately he got a small mechanical problem in the middle of the race and had to lower the pace. With still one lap to go Mike was still in second position but in this lap he lost two positions and finished the race in fourth position.

With these results he finished in third position overall. With still one round to go he sits in third position in the European Championship Standings.

Micha Boy de Waal was riding in the Grand Prix MX2 class in Lierop. Micha Boy was riding a solid qualifying heat on Saturday and managed to work himself back up from 27th position to 21st position.

In the first moto he didn’t took a good start and came out of the first lap in 28th position. He started a charge back through the field and tried to ride as consistent as possible. Micha Boy managed to pass several riders during the race and came close of scoring points. He finally finished the moto in 22nd position.

In the second moto Micha Boy took a bad start again and he came by start/finish in 28th position. Micha Boy tried to come back but in this strong field of riders this isn’t easy. The track was really heavy but Micha Boy gave everything he had. He was riding a consistent rhythm and finally crossed the finish line in 23rd position.

Overall he finished in 25th position. Next weekend the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki will participate in the final round of the European Championship Series in Faenza, Italy.
