Mike Kras of the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team finished on the podium at round two of the European MX2 Series in Kegums, Latvia last weekend. Kras finished in third position in both motos and these results gave him third overall. Micha Boy de Waal crashed in time practice and bruised his thumb, shoulder and several muscles in his back. Despite this he was determined to ride. In the first moto he was riding in tenth position when he stalled the bike. It took him a lot of time to get going and due to this he finished the race in 29th position. In the second moto he crossed the finish line in 16th position and scored five well earned points.

The riders of the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team were enjoying themselves on the track in the free practice session on Saturday. Mike set the third fastest time and Micha Boy was the fifth fastest rider. In time practice Mike was second but disaster struck Micha Boy. On a long table top he lost control over his Suzuki and went sideways. When he hit the ground he made a big crash and bruised his thumb, shoulder and several muscles in his back. Micha Boy went back to the bike and went back to the pits. In the closing stages of the session he went back out again on his spare bike but wasn’t able to improve on his fastest lap time and ended the session in 15th position.

In the first moto it was Mike who took a really good start. In the beginning of the race he was fighting for the win but made a small mistake and finished the race in a strong third position. Micha Boy started the race in sixth position. He was in a lot of pain but tried to make the best of it. During the race he dropped back to tenth position. He was riding in this position for several laps but unfortunately he stalled his bike and lost a lot of time. Micha Boy dropped back to the back of the field and finally finished the race in 29th position.

Mike took a good start in the second moto as well. In the beginning of the race he was riding in sixth position and after a few laps he worked himself up to third position. The two leaders had already a gap over themselves and Mike. The rider from Fijnaart gave everything he had but couldn’t close down the gap and finished the moto in third position. Micha Boy was riding with some painkillers. After a decent start he was riding in twelfth position in the beginning of the race. Micha Boy was in a lot of pain when he had to ride over the deeper bumps and due to this he lost several positions during the race. He kept fighting and still managed to finish the race in sixteenth position and scored five European Championship points.

Mike finished in third position overall and sits in fifth position in the championship. Micha Boy is in thirteenth position in the championship after two rounds. Next weekend round three of the series will be held in Russia.
