Difficult start of the Dutch Open Championship Series for the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team

Mike Kras of the Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team has had a difficult opening round of the Dutch Open Championship Series in Halle. In the first moto he was riding in seventh position when he got a problem with his spark plug. Due to this he was forced to retire from the race. Because he had ridden only a few laps in the first moto he couldn’t find his rhythm in the second moto and finished in a disappointing fourteenth position.
A lot of Grand Prix riders were participating in the event to train a little bit for the up and coming Grand Prix in Valkenswaard. Mike was motivated to do well and was ready to go out in practice. It didn’t took long before he had found his rhythm and already in the first lap of time practice he set his fastest time. Mike ended the session in fourth position and with a happy feeling he went back to the paddock.
In the first moto he didn’t took a good start but he started a charge back through the field and passed one rider after another. It didn’t took him long before he had worked himself up into eight position. Soon after he got a problem with his spark plug and he was forced to retire from the race.
In the second moto he took a better start and after a good first lap he came by start/finish in fifth position. Because he had only ridden a few laps in the first moto he couldn’t find his rhythm. He held on to seventh position for a few laps but because he got a lot of arm pump he had to lower the pace and finally finished in fourteenth position.
Overall he finished in eighteenth position in Halle. The American Michael Leib wasn’t able to participate in this event. Michael injured his arm in the West Coast Lites Supercross Series and as it looks now he can start training again from the 2nd of April.
The second round of the Dutch Open Championship Series will be held this Saturday in Oldebroek.
